ThoughtWorks is a privately owned global technology company with 40 offices in 14 countries. It provides software design and delivery along with pioneering tools and consulting services. Historically situated in the urban hub of Johannesburg, ThoughtWorks tasked Karpinski Design to create a fresh start for their African headquarters in a building more suited to their needs. In the 10th and 11th floors of an office block overlooking downtown Johannesburg, the result was a functional and aesthetically pleasing interior that showcased the amazing urban views. All services and technology was housed in the central bulkhead allowing the 1960s concrete ribbed sofit to shine through effortlessly. Subtle lighting was introduced allowing the entire 10th floor to be used as entertainment and collaborative spaces for their functions and seminars.
